First Responder - Training for Professional First Responders in Northern Ontario

Our First Responder course offers comprehensive training in first aid and CPR skills, tailored for professional first responders or individuals aspiring to join the ranks of first responders. This extensive program covers a wide spectrum of vital topics, including the patient assessment model, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), hemorrhage control, and the care of various acute and chronic medical conditions. Participants can expect dynamic training techniques, including video presentations, media demonstrations, practical sessions, engaging discussions, and real-life scenario-based simulations

  • Course Overview

    Comprehensive first aid and CPR skills for professional first responders or those training to become first responders. Course teaches the patient assessment model, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, hemorrhage control, and care for a variety of acute and chronic conditions. Participants will be engaged in dynamic training techniques including video, media presentations, skills demonstrations, practice sessions, discussions and scenarios based on real-life situations.

  • Course Content

    Professional Responder: Gain a deep understanding of what it takes to be a professional responder, including the crucial aspects of patient care and safety.


    Infection Prevention and Control: Learn essential techniques for preventing infections in emergency situations.


    Anatomy and Physiology: Explore the basics of human anatomy and physiology to better understand the body's responses to various emergencies.


    Comprehensive Assessment: Master the patient assessment model to effectively evaluate and respond to injuries and illnesses.


    Airway and Respiratory Management: Acquire vital skills in managing airway and respiratory emergencies.


    Cardiovascular Emergencies: Learn to respond confidently to circulatory emergencies and shock situations.


    Trauma Care: Discover techniques for handling hemorrhage and soft tissue trauma, musculoskeletal injuries, chest, abdominal, and pelvic injuries, head and spinal injuries.


    Medical Conditions: Gain insights into acute and chronic medical conditions, including poisoning, environmental illnesses, pregnancy, labor, and delivery.


    Special Populations: Learn how to provide effective care to individuals with unique needs and conditions.


    Crisis Intervention: Develop crisis intervention skills for handling challenging situations.


    Patient Handling: Understand proper techniques for reaching, lifting, and extricating patients safely.


    Mass Casualty Response: Prepare for managing multiple-casualty incidents effectively.
