Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR

This comprehensive one-day course designed to introduce caregivers to injury prevention skills and knowledge. Course covers lifesaving first aid skills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR and AED) for children, and babies. 

Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial early childhood education and day care worker safety requirements*

Duration: Minimum 8 hours in-class

Our Emergency Child Care First Aid course goes beyond the basics to cover a wide range of essential topics, including:

• The Red Cross
• Responding to Emergencies
• Understanding the EMS system
• Check, Call, Care
• Addressing airway emergencies
• Managing breathing and circulation emergencies for children and babies
• First aid techniques for respiratory and cardiac arrest in children and infants
• Expert wound care
• Handling head, neck, and spinal injuries
• Managing bone, muscle, and joint injuries
• Rapid response to sudden medical emergencies
• Identifying and addressing environmental illnesses
• Effective response to poison-related incidents
• Special emphasis on caring for children

Inclusion of any additional content required by specific legislation

3-year certification in Emergency Child Care First Aid

6 hours in-class*

Participants will receive comprehensive course materials, including the Child Care First Aid booklet (available in print and/or eBook formats) and the Comprehensive Guide to First Aid & CPR (eBook). Upon successful completion, you will be awarded an Emergency Child Care First Aid certificate, a digital testament to your readiness to provide essential care in childcare and early education settings in Northern Ontario.
